Spider Run celebrates the birth of our premium small batch of red wine. Only the best parcels of fruit from various low yielding sections of the vineyard are used. Spider Run is an example of the family commitment to achieving the very highest quality possible and to showcase the benefits of biodynamic vineyard practices.
FRUIT
The 2005 vintage was blessed with excellent conditions. This meant the fruit ripened in perfect timing with the right pH, fruit flavour & baume.
WINEMAKING
Our best parcels of shiraz commenced fermentation in open fermenters before being split 50% new French oak barrique and 50% 3 year old French oak barrique. Here they completed their fermentation and were left for 15 months to mature. Each barrel went through a final selection process before being blended and bottled.
CHARACTERISTICS
Deep Ruby Red with ripe dark berry fruits, pepper spice and floral lift. This wine is rich and medium bodied, showing ripe fruit flavours balanced well by spicy oak and good tannin structure. There is a hint of tariness from barrel ferment.
CUISINE
Compliments French rich red meet dishes such as Boeuf Bourguignon.
