FRUIT
The arrival of some botrytis spores on a small parcel of Chardonnay was a blessing in this tough vintage. The wonderfully complex flavours that this produced inspired us to make this 08 Lucia Dessert wine.
WINEMAKING
The fruit was picked on Feb 29th, and then extended slow ferment took place in stainless steel under cool conditions. The Lucia Dessert Wine was bottled early to retain the unique freshness of the primary fruit flavours.
CHARACTERISTICS
Soft golden straw in colour, with apricots and peaches intermingled fresh citrus peel, this wine is viscous without being overly sweet. It exhibits a luscious round palate with stone fruit characters that are well balanced by clean acidity, and a long smooth finish.
This is a delicate, soft dessert wine that will develop more honeyed and marmalade characteristics over the coming 3 – 4 years.
CUISINE
The perfect accompaniment with a caramelized pear tart.
